Urban Dread, 31220 La Baya Dr. #110,
Westlake Village, CA 91362
Formed in 1988, Urban Dread was the vision of Jason Bourne. His vision was to play music that appealed to all ages and races with an emphasis on making people dance. After coming up with the name, he knew that he had to put together a group that could live up to it. Jason and his childhood friend Kris Carpenter then conceptualized a band that could utilize the unity of REGGAE music and appeal to the masses of pop, rock, R&B and hip-hop culture. From the very first show, the packed house danced all night and had a great time...the rest is history. Fourteen years later, Urban Dread is L.A.'s busiest reggae crossover band with regular gigs through Southern California and beyond. With Tony Lee on guitar there is no stopping the new improved Urban Dread. Throughout the years the members have changed but one thing remains the same: people get their groove on when they see Urban Dread. No doubt about it! This year the band is busier than ever with multiple show days and a variety of new venues. Currently the band is recording new material for release later this year as well as mastering some old demo tapes and dat recordings. You can now order two previously unreleased CD's that have material that dates back to the beginning of the Dread in 1988. The three cassette releases by the band are now out of press and will be included on the "Old School 15" and "Life We Love/Moving Thru the city" CD's. |
