As a young man growing up in Belize Jonzie's father was his inspiration and teacher in the music business, In his early years Jonzie performed in opening acts for bands including Third World, Inner Circle, Edwatson and the Brass Circle. He later worked work with Julian Marley, Calypso Rose, Eric Donoldson and other bands at home including the New Messengers.

From 1985 through 1991 Jonzie performed on several tours with the New Messengers in the U.S. He then decided to move to Chicago to better pursue his musical goals. While in Chicago he worked with the New Dynamics and Roots vibration.

After relocating to Los Angeles Jonzie joined the Cross Culture band and performed in Canada at Sunfest. He has since played with the Dominaters, New Rhythm band, Gawge and the UKB, and Kindread. Hehas recorded with Rascalin, Kurt Mahoney, Skarcha, Eek-a-mouse, Mandaters and Twelve Tribes.

In addition to his work with Urban Dread Jonzie is curently a member of the internationally renowned Wailing Souls, performing for audiences of more than 60,000 fans.
